Yesterday, the club hosted a record number of games at our home ground of Celebration Park and we used the occasion to show our support for the FFA bid to host the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia.
With all 7 of our teams at home, plus Football West's U13's girls team, it was a true festival of womens football, with over 200 female players taking part in 8 games from 8.30 am to 4.45 pm.
In addition to the players, their families and supporters we were joined by our club Patron the Honourable Janine Freeman, the liberal candidate for the Federal seat of Stirling Mr Vince Connelly and the CEO of Football West Mr James Curtis.
As well as supporting the #Getonside bid we also used the day to raise funds to send an U16's team to the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, with our sponsors (SWEA) providing us with a steady supply of delicious Swedish waffles!
The football was of a high standard too, with the showpiece game being the match between our Premier league team and the current champions Queens Park and this featured a number of past and present Perth Glory W league players on both sides. Unfortunately we lost 2-1 but the team played to a very high standard against a very strong Queens Park.
