We may only be 3 weeks into the new decade, but we are already gearing up to meet the challenges of the new season.
Our NPL squad are hard at work preparing for the first-ever night series and kick off the campaign with their first game in the group stages against Murdoch University Melville on 9th February. They then play Perth Soccer Club on the 16th February and finish the group matches with a match against Subiaco on the 22nd of February.
Our Amateur team has also started their pre-season training as they get ready for the challenge of playing in the first campaign of the newly created Amateur league.
Even though there has been little in the way of Redbacks football, some of our players are still making headlines.
Kim Carroll scored her first-ever goal for Perth Glory with a last-minute header to earn a point against Canberra in the W League, whilst Morgan Aquino made her long-awaited debut for Glory in the game against Western Sydney Wanderers. She then made her starting debut in Glory's first win of the season against Newcastle Jets.
A number of players have been keeping fit during the off-season by playing Futsal and we had strong representation at the recent National Championships. The WA team finished runners up in the Women's Youth competition and Kaitlyn Bellanca was selected into the All-Stars Squad.
In the Women's State League Futsal competition both Carla Bennett and Tiahna Botha were selected to play in the All-Star Game.
